My name is Whitney, and I am the new Practice Manager here at Riverbend. I am thrilled to have joined the team back in February. Since then, I have spent my time learning the Riverbend way and trying to fill some very big shoes. I live in Longmeadow with my husband, Cabot, and my son Brady. We are a multigenerational home – my parents (and their 2 dogs!) also live with us! I spend a lot of time hiking, traveling, and traveling to hike.
I come to Riverbend with an extensive background in both human and veterinary management. I bring a passion for animals and data and a love of working with people. I’ve spent most of my adult life in the veterinary world. My family owned a practice in Connecticut that was my home away from home even before “officially” becoming the manager. “The Clinic,” as we affectionately called it, helped raise my now-16-year-old son. I always joke that I am useless when it comes to giving my friends potty training advice because I played no part in potty training my son – the fearless girls at the front desk took care of that for me. When we sold the practice, I swore that my days in veterinary medicine were over because I thought I would never find a place that could match the energy or atmosphere of The Clinic.
I spent the next five years back in human medicine, working in a large healthcare organization while finishing a degree in Health Administration Services and starting a master’s in Health Informatics and Data Analytics at Tufts University School of Medicine. I was casually perusing Indeed one day, and I saw the Riverbend job listing. Something told me to apply. I was lucky enough to get an interview and upon my first visit, I knew I had been wrong – my days in vet med were not behind me.
